Never A Dull Moment

Since my last entry things here in Boston have not slowed down one bit! The weather has cooled off considerably and besides one day of rain it has been beautiful! We've been socializing and attending events and keeping very busy.

Casey just got his first potty and even though he hasn't quite grasped exactly what it's for, he really seems to love it. For some very strange reason he feels the need to read while he sits on it....I have no idea where he could have gotten that from.

Last Friday the 7th, Casey and I along with all of our other mom friends took part in the Crimson Kids Opening Social and Tricycle Parade. Crimson Kids is a group for members of the Partners Club and their children. They have parties, a co-op preschool, a weekly playgroup, mom's nights out, field trips and a ton of other activities for moms and kids. For the kick-off we met up at the playground right outside our building here on campus where we got to know other families, ate and mingled while the kids played. After a while we all decorated the strollers, trikes, bikes and scooters and took of in parade fashion on a loop around campus. The kids had a great time and drew lots of attention, yelling and blowing their little noise makers. It was quite a display. Jesse was even able to get in on the fun as he got out of class right as we were parading by. He even finished the last of the route marching along with us.

Casey prefers to push his bike rather than ride

Later that same evening we met up with several friends for dinner at Tavern on the Square. We had a few drinks, a fantastic meal and lively conversation all for about $20 a piece (much to our delight). Our busy social calendar is murder on the wallet! After dinner we headed to the Gypsy Bar for HBS "club night". It was fun seeing all of our friends and doing a little dancing but not exactly our scene...definitely not Jesse's. We were all so exhausted by about about 11:30 we decided to call it a night and were home in bed within an hour....are we getting old?

Sunday night we went with Ryan, Natalie and Hailey to the Children's Museum of Boston for HBS family night. The MBA families had exclusive use of the museum for 3 hours and we had dinner there. We had a fabulous time getting better acquainted with the other families and needless to say Casey had a blast. There were so many cool and exciting interactive exhibits he just went crazy! I doubt we saw more than 1/3 of the place and I personally can't wait to go back. In fact we will probably get a membership.

Jesse has been really busy with school, too, if you can believe it. I know it must seem like all we do is socialize but during the week he's hard at work. He has 13 classes in a week that are about an hour and 1/2 each and he spends about 2 hours preparing for each class. There are also all sorts of additional forums, discussions, meetings and dinners that he has to attend but that hasn't really gotten in full swing just yet. So far he is managing to get all of this in and he's been making time to come home and spend time with Casey so I can go to the gym almost every day. What a guy, right?

As some of you may know, Friday the 14th was my 31st birthday and it was awesome. We had a new babysitter come to our place (who Casey really seemed to like) so we could meet up with a small group of our closest friends at one of our favorite spots, Border Cafe for some delicious Mexican food and margaritas. After dinner we headed over to the Havana Club for salsa dancing! The place was packed but we had a table reserved for my birthday. The first hour was a salsa lesson where we practiced steps on our own and then danced one by one with everyone else in the circle. After the lesson the place was just this crazy, sweaty salsa dancing party! Everyone else in our group was pretty pooped by that point and just hung out at our table but there was no shortage of sweaty Latin men for me to dance with! I had a great time dancing and have decided that I am definitely going to try to get back there and really learn how to salsa well. It was so much fun! There are some pictures of us on the Havana Club website if you want to check it out http://havanaclubsalsa.com/gallery/FNS07-09-14/
Also, I want to thank everyone for all of your birthday wishes. You made my birthday so special and you made me feel very loved!

Finally, we are up to last night, which was "Casino Night" here on campus. I don't have any pictures yet but I'll try to get some on here next time. Again we had a babysitter come to our place and our friends Natalie, Ryan, Birgitta and Allen came over for a drink beforehand. The event was semi-formal so we got all dressed up which is always fun for me. We each got $2,000 in play money and there was craps, poker, blackjack and who knows what all...It was so crowded that I didn't get a chance to gamble at all. I didn't have the patience to wait for a seat to open up and I was having such a great time sipping wine and meeting Jesse's classmates and their partners. So far this was my favorite event. I met some really fun people that I look forward to becoming friends with and we got to dress up!

Unfortunately, all this activity and excitement is beginning to wear on all of us. Casey has had a pretty bad cold though he seems to be feeling pretty well today, Jesse is sick and now I'm feeling like I'm catching something, too. Hopefully we can just relax and take it easy next weekend. I know Jesse has at least 2 dinners this coming week and if we're feeling better Casey and I are going on a Crimson Kids field trip to Walden Pond.

Thanks for checking in on us, We'd love to hear from you! Check back in a week or two.

XOXO

Nicole
